“Thank you to all the participants in the JJ Redick Celebrity Golf Tournament and the JJ Redick Skills Development Camp. We raised over $110,000 dollars and had a great time doing it. 100% of the proceeds from this year’s golf tournament will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network of the Roanoke Valley and CHIP of the Roanoke Valley. I sincerely hope that all the participants will be back next year and we can continue to help disadvantaged youths in my hometown of Roanoke, VA. I’m already looking forward to next year’s events!”

What is your favorite type of food?

Answer:

I like everything. Rustic italian. Modern french. GOOD sushi (i need my fish fresh! ha) but my fav is Carolina BBQ!

Question:

Since your on the road a lot…What’s your favorite thing to do when you stay at hotels??

Answer:

Not a whole lot to do at the hotels we stay at. I am prone to cabin fever so I like to get out of the hotel and walk around the cities a lot. My favorite cities to walk around are San Francisco, New York, Charlotte, and Birmingham, Michigan (we stay in Birmingham when we play Detroit).

Question:

How important do you feel homecourt advantage is in basketball? Teams always seem to have much better records at home, so I am curious just what it is about playing at home gives you such an advantage. Thanks JJ!

Answer:

Home court is very important and teams generally do play better at home than on the road. The reasons are pretty simple- the home crowd, the familiarity of the arena, sleeping in your own bed the night before the game, napping in your own bed the day of the game, eating schedules are easier to stick to at home. I’m not going to lie- it’s tough being on the road. And winning on the road is tough in this league.

Sort of a random question here, but what the heck. What kind of hair product do you use to keep your hair in place all game?

Answer:

Very funny question. And it’s a question that people ask me all the time. The truth is I use very little product but instead rely on a simple, yet effective procedure. I take a little bit of stick wax and rub it on my palms and fingers. I run my hands thru my a few times then take a towel (this is the key) and rub the towel over my hair for two or three seconds. The towel leaves my hair in a messy “fro” but it gives me something to work with. Then I style my hair accordingly. All in all the process takes 30 seconds to a minute.

JJ leads Magic past Rockets

The Houston Rockets couldn’t cool off J.J. Redick.

A dip in a pool after the game did the job, however.

Redick had just emerged from a “cold plunge” where temperatures are great for ice fishing.

For the last few years, J.J. believes in the pool’s recuperative powers.

“I swear by the cold plunge,” said Redick, wearing only a towel and a smile, still shivering by his dressing stall. “It’s the fountain of youth.”

Redick was hot all night, finishing with 20 points off the bench in the Magic’s home-opening victory on Monday night at Amway Center. He made 8-of-12 shots, including two of his three pointers in the fourth quarter to highlight his eight-point period.

Over the course of three games in three days, Orlando Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick played a whopping 99 minutes.

As it turns out, he would have liked to have had an additional two-tenths of a second more on the court.

Redick buried a potential game-winning 3-pointer late Wednesday night, but the high-arching shot was ruled to have left his hands after time had expired. So rather than enjoying a sixth consecutive victory and a first-ever stretch of three wins in three days, Redick and the Magic were forced to stomach an 85-83 overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
